Secretary-General of the Arab League, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, expressed the League’s support for the political agreement that was signed on 21 November between Sudan’s political forces and military.
This came in two phone calls made by Aboul Gheit, with Lieutenant-General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, head of the Transitional Sovereign Council in Sudan, and Abdullah Hamdok, Prime Minister.
An official source in the Arab League of States stated on Wednesday that Aboul Gheit assured both Al-Burhan and Hamdok that the League stood by the Sudanese government and people, and welcomed the steps that would restore understanding between the civil and military components in the transitional phase.
