Chinese President Xi Jinping urged his US counterpart Joe Biden in a phone call to correct the US’ wrong assessment of the state of the world, Xinhua news agency reported on Sunday.
According to the agency, the Chinese president called on his US counterpart to “take into consideration the global stability, work, and lives of billions of people and think about how to properly address global hot issues.”
Jinping also made it clear that comprehensive and indiscriminate sanctions will only lead to the suffering of people.
“If the sanctions continue to escalate, they could lead to serious global crises in the economy, trade, finance, energy, food, and supply chains, paralysing the already struggling global economy and causing irreversible losses,” Jinping said
He stressed that a permanent solution is that major countries must respect each other; reject the mentality of the cold war; refrain from confrontation between blocs; and gradually adopt a balanced, effective, and sustainable security structure for the region and the world.
“All sides should jointly support Russia and Ukraine in conducting dialogue and negotiations that can lead to peace.”
He also said the US and NATO should hold dialogue with Russia “to address the core of the Ukrainian crisis and alleviate security concerns.”
