There were reports that South African Coach Pitso Mosimane — the man at the helm of Al-Ahly Club — would be departing at the end of the current season, especially after the controversial tweet published by the agency headed by his wife claiming the coach signed a contract in the past two days.
This means that an important announcement regarding the future of the coach may be on the horizon, especially that there have been reports that Mosimane received a tempting Qatari offer, and that there was an agreement with the Board of Directors headed by Mahmoud Al-Khatib regarding his departure.
Al-Ahly is preparing to meet Moroccan Wydad in the final of the African Champions League that is scheduled for 30 May, along with successive matches in the Egyptian Premier League, which Al-Ahly seeks to reclaim the title of after losing it last season.
Interestingly, this comes at a time when Al-Ahly officials refuse to speak of the matter under the pretext of focusing on the team’s upcoming matches, which increases the circulation of these speculations, especially since it is no secret to anyone that Al-Khatib is not satisfied with the Reds’ performance recently.
Previously, Al-Ahly announced the renewal of Mosimane’s contract with Al-Ahly for the next two seasons, however, this does not mean that it is a blank check for the coach to continue under any circumstances, especially since the pressure of Al-Ahly fans on the administration is great whenever the team draws or loses.
It is certain that all of this will be postponed until the end of the Moroccan Wydad match, after which officials may reveal the details, especially since it is illogical to talk about the matter at a time when the team is preparing for the Champions League final for the third year in a row in an attempt to secure a hattrick of Champions League trophies — an achievement that will certainly be credited to Mosimane.
