The communications and information technology sector achieved growth rates of about 16.3% in FY2021/22, becoming the highest growing sector in the state.
This came in report on the performance indicators of the Egyptian economy in FY2021/22 that was issued by the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development on Sunday.
The report also highlighted that the telecommunications and information technology sector was the top-performer in terms of the number and value of deals within the framework of acquisitions and merger activity in the Middle East and North Africa during the first half (1H) of 2022.
For his part, Minister of Communications and Information Technology Amr Talaat said that the sector managed to achieve high performance rates at the economic level and maintain its position as the top growing sector over the past four FYs.
He also referred to the high growth rates of the communications and information technology sector over the past FYs, with the sector recording a growth rate of 16.1% in FY2020/21 and 15.2% in FY2019/20.
Furthermore, he explained that the steady increase in the growth rates of the communications and information technology sector reflects the development it is witnessing as Egypt implements its digital strategy, which includes several national projects for digital transformation, developing digital infrastructure, in addition to supporting innovative thinking and entrepreneurship, and building digital capabilities for young people.
