Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi has called on the government to continue strengthening its inclusion programmes for people with disabilities.
This came during his speech on Wednesday at the fourth edition of “Differently Abled” celebration for people with disabilities at the Manara International Conference Center in the Fifth Settlement, New Cairo.
Al-Sisi directed the Ministry of Social Solidarity to issue integrated services cards for people with disabilities, and allocated EGP 1bn to the People of Determination Fund
The President also instructed the Ministry of Youth and Sports to grant membership in youth centres, youth innovation and learning centres, and youth cities for people with disabilities, and to coordinate with sports clubs in order to ensure that they participate in sports activities in a convenient manner.
Al-Sisi directed the ministry to launch programmes for discovering talented and creative people with disabilities in various fields, besides special programmes for physical fitness.
The President also instructed the Ministry of Housing to allocate a share in housing projects for people with disabilities in accordance with the regulations for each project in various new cities.
Upon his arrival at the ceremony, President Al-Sisi was received by Mohamed Zaki, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces and Minister of Defence and Military Production; Parliament Speaker Hanafi Gibali; Grand Imam of Al-Azhar Ahmed Al-Tayeb; and several ministers and senior statesmen.
