Several Egyptian museums to open in 2023

The Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities has said that many major projects will be inaugurated in 2023, mainly the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM).

So far, about 99.5% of the construction works in the GEM project was completed, including 99% of the interior finishes, 98% of the flooring works of external squares and plantings, 96% of the electromechanical systems works, 92% of the external roads surrounding the project, and 99 8% of the facades of the museum and the hall of Tutankhamun. The museum also completed the transfer and restoration of more than 55,000 artefacts.

Meanwhile, according to the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities report, the Museum of the Capitals of Egypt in the New Administrative Capital has been completed and is ready for opening.

The Ministry also completed the restoration of Muhammad Ali Palace in Shubra and it is ready for opening.

Moreover, the report said that around 97% of the construction works in the Greco-Roman Museum in Alexandria have been completed.

Also, the report revealed the completion of the project to restore and raise the efficiency of the Babylon Fortress in ancient Egypt and that it is ready for opening.

Meanwhile, the Ministry has completed the project of restoring the Jewish Ben Azra Synagogue in Old Cairo, the construction project for the visitors’ center in the dome of Imam Al-Shafi’I, and they are all ready for opening.

Also, 90% of the works are implemented in the project of restoring Sariyat Al-Jabal Mosque in the Citadel, and 70% of the implementation of the works in the project of restoring the Imhotep Museum in Saqqara.
