Egypt’s Minister of Communications and Information Technology Amr Talaat met Monday with his Tunisian counterpart Nizar Ben Naji to discuss boosting bilateral cooperation in several areas related to digital transformation, building digital capabilities, and international infrastructure.
The meeting shed light on some of the developments taking place in the telecommunications and information technology sectors in Egypt and Tunisia, as well as the most prominent projects that are being implemented in the two countries to achieve digital transformation, build digital capabilities, and develop international infrastructure, in addition to reviewing the most important areas of proposed cooperation between the two countries in the field of Communication and information technology.
During the meeting; Amr Talaat emphasized the depth of the fraternal relations between Egypt and Tunisia, where the cultural and historical rapprochement between the peoples of the two countries represents a fundamental pillar of cooperation in many fields, on top of which is the field of communications and information technology; referring to the multiplicity of areas of proposed cooperation between the two countries in matters of common interest. These include exchanging experiences in the field of digital transformation and building a digital society, cooperation in the fields of interconnection, cybersecurity, and artificial intelligence, as well as cooperation in the fields of human development and student exchange in the field of technical training, entrepreneurship and the encouragement of startups.
Amr Talaat also referred to the efforts made by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology to achieve digital transformation, localize data, and create a legislative environment supportive of the communications and information technology industry, in addition to building digital capabilities; pointing to the project of moving the government to the new administrative capital as a participatory, paperless government.
On his part; Nizar Ben Nagy stressed the importance of cooperation and exchange of successful experiences between Egypt and Tunisia in the field of communications and information technology to achieve mutual benefit. Referring to the most prominent projects implemented by the Tunisian Ministry of Communication Technologies, including those related to strengthening international connectivity and developing the communications infrastructure, digital transformation and citizen digital identity projects, developing electronic services provided to citizens, in addition to preparing the national strategy for artificial intelligence, implementing training and capacity-building projects, and encouraging entrepreneurship and startups within the framework of the Emerging Tunisia Program, in addition to preparing the legal framework supporting ICT in Tunisia, with attention to international cooperation in order to benefit from various experiences; Pointing out that the axis of communication and change management was created to meet the challenges related to the rejection of digitization.
Ben Nagy welcomed the strengthening of cooperation between Egypt and Tunisia in the areas of building digital capacities and international infrastructure.
