Secretary-General of Egypt’s Supreme Council of Antiquities Mostafa Waziri met with Ambassador Khairat Lama, Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Cairo, to discuss the latest developments in the project of restoring Al-Zaher Baybars Mosque, in preparation for its opening soon.
The meeting reviewed the latest developments in the mosque restoration project, which Kazakhstan contributes to financing under the supervision of the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities.
The meeting also discussed the possibility of holding a temporary exhibition of Islamic antiquities touring a number of cities in the Republic of Kazakhstan, thus contributing to introducing the Kazakh people to the Egyptian civilization and encouraging the movement of tourism from Kazakhstan.
For his part, Ambassador Khairat Lama expressed his appreciation for the fruitful cooperation witnessed by the Egyptian-Kazakh relations in the field of archaeological work. He expressed his country’s aspiration to benefit from Egyptian expertise in the field of archaeological work in terms of training work on excavations, restoration and museum science, in addition to establishing an institute to teach archaeology in Kazakhstan.
