Fouad, CEDARE chief discuss preparations for Egypt’s 2022 environment report

Egypt’s Minister of Environment Yasmine Fouad met on Saturday with CEO of the Center for Environment and Development for the Arab Region and Europe (CEDARE) Nadia Makram Ebeid to prepare and discuss the main features of the 2022 state of the environment in Egypt report.

The State of the Environment report is a national report, considered one of the mechanisms of environmental audits in Egypt. It is prepared annually to determine the path of achieving the desired goals in the Egyptian environmental sector.

During the meeting, Fouad reviewed her ministry’s efforts in the course of developing the environment sector, creating links between the environment and economic development.

She also stressed the importance of showing the human and economic dimension in the State of the Environment Report in Egypt for 2022, pointing to work during the last period on the file of natural reserves, integrating local communities into preserving them, reviving the cultural and artistic heritage and customs of those communities within the reserves.

For her part, Ebeid expressed her happiness with the existing cooperation between the Ministry of Environment and CEDARE in preparing the report.

In a statement on Saturday, the Ministry of Environment announced its continued cooperation with CEDARE to work on building the capabilities of a new generation of the ministry’s youth, capable of drafting and preparing the report on the latest technologies and practices that exist globally.
