The Global Symposium for Regulators (GSR), held by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), will be hosted in Sharm El-Sheikh from 5 to 8 June this year. More than 70 countries and 700 experts as well as policy-makers will take part in the event, including telecom regulators and industry leaders from around the world, where a global dialogue will be opened to discuss the most pressing issues that face the telecom sector.

Since 2000, GSR has been the meeting point for ICT regulatory authorities’ heads from around the whole world, and has also gained fame as a global event held annually where regulators can meet to exchange views and expertise regarding the most significant ICT regulatory issues worldwide.

The event will further give telecom regulators, industry leaders, policy-makers and other key ICT stakeholders an opportunity to engage in a global dynamic dialogue.

GSR also represents a neutral platform for the members of the Telecommunication Development Sector to share their views with respect to the key issues faced by the ICT sector, whereas it will conclude with the adoption by regulators of a set of regulatory best practice guidelines.

On the other hand, it offers unique networking opportunities in the lead up to and during the event through an online interactive networking platform to set up appointments using a tablet or a smartphone.

Moreover, GSR’s proceedings will encompass a series of thematic events, the Industry Advisory Group for Development Issues and Private Sector Chief Regulatory Officers’ (IAGDI-CRO) meeting, the Regulatory Associations’ meeting and the Heads of Regulators Executives’ Roundtable.
