Spanish golf veteran Miguel AngelJiménez and England’s Cara Gainer claimed major victories at the Hassan II Trophy and Lalla Meryem Cup, respectively, during a historic week at Royal Golf Dar Es Salam. The tournament, held under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, concluded with award ceremonies presided over by His Royal Highness Prince Moulay Rachid.

Jiménez Secures 14th PGA Tour Champions Victory

Miguel AngelJiménez delivered a masterclass at the 49th edition of the Hassan II Trophy, clinching his 14th PGA Tour Champions title with a final score of -11. The Spanish legend edged out New Zealand’s Steven Alker, sealing his victory with a crucial eagle on the 17th hole.

This victory is incredibly special to me, especially after waiting since 2022. The Hassan II Trophy is a unique event, and I’m honored to have made my mark here, Jiménez said.

His victory adds to the list of Spanish champions at the Hassan II Trophy, further reinforcing the country’s strong legacy in the tournament.


Cara Gainer Claims First Ladies European Tour Title

At the 28th edition of the Lalla Meryem Cup, England’s Cara Gainer celebrated her first Ladies European Tour (LET) victory after a dramatic playoff against India’s Diksha Dagar. Gainer finished at -9, securing the title with a late surge of birdies in the final holes.
This is a dream come true. I’m so proud of what I’ve achieved today, and I owe a lot to my caddie for his support this week’s Gainer said.

Dagar, who shot an impressive final-round 67 (-6), narrowly missed out on the title, finishing as runner-up.

Moroccan Golfers Impress on Home Soil

Moroccan players made their presence felt in both tournaments. Ines Laklalech finished as the top Moroccan performer at +1 (35th place), while 15-year-old Sofia Cherif Essakali continued her rise, making the cut for the third consecutive time and finishing 51st at +4.


Pro-Am Highlights and Royal Participation

The tournament week also featured Pro-Am events, where professionals played alongside amateurs and rising talent. His Royal Highness Prince Moulay Rachid, alongside Karim Guessous, Omar Lahjomri, and golf legend Ernie Els, led a victorious team in the cumulative Pro-Am event, adding to the celebratory spirit of the week.

A Vision for Moroccan Golf’s Future

The event underscored Prince Moulay Rachid’s commitment to developing Moroccan golf, particularly women’s participation. A fundraising initiative was introduced to support young Moroccan golfers through programs like First Tee Morocco and USKids, ensuring long-term growth and talent development.

Throughout the week, Royal Golf Dar Es Salam showcased its commitment to eco-friendly resource management, using treated wastewater to maintain its world-class courses, aligning with the Royal Moroccan Golf Federationa’s sustainability goals.

The tournament concluded with the Royal Moroccan Golf Federation extending gratitude to all participants, partners, and volunteers who contributed to the success of the 2025 Hassan II Trophy and Lalla Meryem Cup.
