An Indian delegation from the Engineering Export Promotion Council (EEPC), comprising of 50 leading Indian machine tools and technology firms, will be participating in the MACTECH Fair to be held at the Cairo International Convention Centre from 16 to 10 November 2017.
Apart from participation in the fair, the Indian delegation will also be having business to business (B2B) interactions and meetings with Egyptian businesspersons and officials.
The Indian Pavilion in the fair will be organised by India’s EEPC, the premier trade and investment promotion organisation in the engineering sector, sponsored by the Ministry of Commerce & Industry and the government of India, in association with the Embassy of India in Cairo.
“With MACTECH being the only event within the entire Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region participating with the support of the world’s top industrial associations, Indian manufacturers and exporters of machine tools can look forward to new opportunities for expanding their businesses,” said Mr Bhaskar Sarkar, executive director & secretary at EEPC India.
“India looks forward to collaborating and working with Egypt in this sector through trade and investments,” said Ambassador of India to Egypt Sanjay Bhattacharyya.
In the machine tools and industrial tools sector, India is among the top five exporting countries to Egypt. India exported $3.16m of hand tools to Egypt in 2016, accounting for 6% of the total imports of Egypt for the product.
It is worth mentioning that Egypt has traditionally been one of India’s most important trading partners in the African continent. During the year 2016-17, bilateral trade between India and Egypt was estimated to be $3.23bn. India is Egypt’s 10th largest export destination and also the 10th largest import source.
