Global texting service WhatsApp revealed the most prominent updates released for the application in 2022 so far through an online workshop led by WhatsApp Product Manager Jyoti Sood and WhatsApp Product Director Alice Newton-Rex.
One of the most important new features in WhatsApp is the Global Voice Note Player, which allows users to listen to voice notes while switching between chats, when previously voice notes only played when the chat that they were sent on was open.
The new update will also allow group admins to delete messages written by members, which gives admins more power over group conversations, especially in terms of deleting inappropriate messages, and offender will notice that their text was replaced with an “admin deleted this message” bubble.
Furthermore, WhatsApp now supports reacting to other people’s messages in groups, similar to reactions on social media posts, allowing users to tap on the message that you want to reply to and then dragging their finger to choose the appropriate emoticon. The emoticon will appear under the text and group members will be able to see it and do the same.
Additionally, one of the most prominent privacy updates is the ability to restrict people who are able to see their shared status updates. This feature provides users with more privacy.
