Buy more flats but don t toss your stilettos

CAIRO: “I ve spent $40,000 on shoes and I have no place to live? I will literally be the old woman who lived in her shoes! wines Carrie Bradshaw in “Sex and the City.

If shoes are that crucial, maybe we should scan the fashion world and discover what foot gear one should be wearing this season; but let’s try to keep it in budget.

Whoever said fashion was not practical? One of the best trends this season is unquestionably flat shoes. They are both comfortable and cute, and come in many styles to fit every woman.

Open sandals are the most convenient in this weather. A leather woven look, think Greek goddess, is extremely hot these days. They look fabulous with skirts and Bermudas, which are also the “in trends of this season. They look best in tan shades.

The other option is ballet slippers and skimmers, which are particularly feminine. The ballerina footwear comes in a verity of materials, such as satin or cotton, and this year, it comes in a variety of prints like tiger or floral.

Skimmers also come in different forms this summer. They can be woven, they can be printed and commonly they are crowned (at the front of the shoe) with embroidery, jewels or flowers. The nicest cut for the summer is the peek-a-boo styles (open at the front) that give a touch of elegance.

Many of these models can be worn at the office, but the ideal office pair of flats would have to be loafers, which remain safe from changes in the fashion world. J.P. Tods will always beat the pack. Whether in their classic cuts or in their latest trendy styles, they always look impressive with a suit (pants or skirt).

As comfortable as flats are, there is still a king to every kingdom. In this case, sneakers dominate. They are still as fashionable as ever with high profile celebrities like Paris Hilton, Jennifer Anniston and Siena Miller sporting them. Adidas, Pumas and Converse are on the top of the list.

If the flat selection doesn’t satisfy you, and you still feel the need for some height, opt for wedges, which are at least more comfortable. Sandals or slides with wedges, made from trendy cork, are perfect and almost as comfortable as flats.

Stilettos are always in fashion; so high heel worshippers don’t tear out your hearts just yet. Although flats have stormed there way to high street chic, it is very unlikely that they will push over heels; not anytime soon anyway.
