CAIRO: Chinese Zotye Auto Company is mulling over a proposal to manufacture Chinese models in the domestic market to benefit from the government incentives to car manufacturers in Egypt.
The company’s general manager said last week that Zotye Auto plans to offer two or three models in the Egyptian market this year and, in cooperation with its local partners, has examined the idea of manufacturing the models in Egypt.
He pointed out that manufacturing would focus on autos with high engine capacity to claw away a market share through price competition with imported models.
Zotye’s general manager said the Egyptian market is on his company’s list of target markets in the coming period, citing high growth rates in the Egyptian auto market over the past two years.
He reiterated Chinese company’s commitment to improve quality of their automotives produced in the domestic market to eliminate the bad image propagated by some importers of low-quality Chinese products.
