Mohamed Nagi Gedo has signed for Zamalek despite Ittihad s insistence that his contract will expire in the summer of 2011, FilGoal.com understands.

Zamalek moved for the Egypt forward after learning that his current deal with Ittihad is due to run out at the end of the season.

However, Ittihad chairman Mohamed Moselhi insisted Gedo, who impressed in Egypt s triumphant Nations Cup campaign in Angola, is going nowhere.

People who said that Gedo s contract will expire at the end of the season are mistaken, Moselhi told Al-Hayat TV on Wednesday.

He has already penned a new deal that will tie him to the club until the end of the 2010/2011 season.

There was some delay in registering the new contract because we had problems with the Egyptian FA, but everything has been resolved.

It remains to be seen whether Zamalek would take a legal action against Ittihad.

Gedo took the Nations Cup by storm although he did not start any game with Egypt in the biennial tournament.

He produced some impressive displays off the bench to score five goals and help the Pharaohs clinch an unprecedented third consecutive Nations Cup title, their seventh overall.

The 25-year-old also scored the decisive winner in Egypt s 1-0 final victory over a promising Ghana side.

He finished as the top scorer in his first international experience, two goals ahead of teammate Ahmed Hassan and Ghana striker Asamoah Gyan.
