Zidan out of Egypt's World Cup qualifier

CAIRO: Hamburg SV forward Mohamed Zidan has been ruled out of Egypt s 2010 World Cup African qualifier against DR Congo because of an injury.

Zidan has been suffering from pelvic pains and Egypt s technical staff has decided to give him time to rest and recuperate.

The Hamburg ace left Egypt s camp in Alexandria on Monday to undergo some tests and x-rays.

He is the second player to pull out of Egypt s squad for the DR Congo game through injury after playmaker Mohamed Abou-Treika.

Meanwhile, Zamalek and ENPPI s players joined their national teammates in Alexandria after playing the Egyptian Cup final on Sunday evening.

Zamalek s Amr Zaki, Mohamed Abdul-Monsef, Mohamed Ibrahim, Shikabala, and Mahmoud Fathallah and ENPPI s Ahmed Al-Muhammadi, Abdul-Aziz Tawfik, Islam Awad, and Ahmed Raouf all made it to the Egypt camp.

The DR Congo game that will take place on Friday will be the first for African champions Egypt in their Group 12 of the 2010 World Cup preliminary African qualifiers which also includes Djibouti and Malawi.
