CAIRO: MCDR sensation Ayman Hefni, who has been approached by Zamalek of late, might become on the wish-list of Ahly in the near future, according to Red Devils team coordinator Sayed Abdul-Hafiz.
Former Ahly ace Abdul-Hafiz stressed that his side haven’t opened talks with MCDR yet, saying the 24-year-old has to be consistent to earn a move to the Cairo giants.
"We haven’t started any negotiations yet but the player is quite remarkable," Abdul-Hafiz told Modern TV.
"We won’t contact him or his club these days, only when the time is right."
Zamalek have already been negotiating MCDR over a possible winter deal for Hefni. Both clubs haven’t reached an agreement thus far.
Hefni had a great chance, which he eagerly anticipated, to showcase his talent when MCDR played against Zamalek in the Egyptian Premier League last week.
He made the most of it by producing an eye-catching display although his side lost 4-3 in a thrilling game.
The promising playmaker opened the scoring after 14 minutes when he cut inside his marker and hit a low shot which bounced in front of keeper Essam Al-Hadari before flying into the net.
He burst onto the scene when his superb bicycle kick earned MCDR a 1-1 draw at Ismaili last month.
