Synopsis: It’s 2974 in Buenos Aires. Benjamín Espósito and Pablo Sandoval, legal investigators at one of the city’s criminal courts, are joined by a new boss, Cornell-trained lawyer Irene Menéndez Hastings. Benjamín and Irene are clearly attracted to one another. Benjamín is preoccupied by the brutal rape and murder of young, recently married schoolteacher Liliana Coloto. He refuses to accept his colleague Romano’s conclusions (endorsed by senior judge Fortuna) that two builders carrying out work in her apartment building committed the crime, suspecting that her old friend Isidoro Gómez may be responsible. Winner of the 2010 Best Foreign Film Oscar.

She plays Suzanne Pujol, an impossibly glamorous neglected housewife whose husband Robert cheats on her and ignores her in favor of tyrannically running her family’s factory. Suzanne is uncomplaining, spending her days puttering around the house and turning a blind eye to her husband’s indiscretions…until the stress of striking workers destroys his health and leaves her temporarily in charge of running the company..

Mother Teresa of Cats

Synopsis: Police arrest two brothers, Artur and Martin, at their aunt’s provincial motel and escort them to jail in the capital. Unfolding in flashback, the film seeks out the motives for the crime they have committed. How did such irrational evil germinate in boys from a good family? Mother Teresa loves her two sons and sympathizes with her husband Hubert, a professional soldier traumatized by his experiences in Iraq. She helps music student Eva who lives with them and cares for their autistic daughter Jadza, and she is kindhearted to stray cats as well, allowing them to fill up their large apartment.

Synopsis: Set in London, Mike Leigh’s latest stars Jim Broadbent and Ruth Sheen as middle-aged, middle-class couple Tom and Gerri (he’s a geologist and she’s a NHS counselor). At ease with their lot, they act as emotional life rafts to a couple of their less fortunate friends — twice-divorced Mary (Lesley Manville), a work colleague of Gerri’s, and Ken (Peter Wright), a boyhood friend of Tom’s. Mary and Ken are both lonely and unhappy, oozing desperation from every pore. As the story rolls through the four seasons, a series of mundane incidents accumulate into a revealing study of modern life.
