Minister of Tourism Hisham Zaazou said he expects that the number of tourists arriving in Egypt to increase to 12.5 million as opposed to 9.5 million last year. The minister made the statement during the opening of the 33rd edition of the International Heath Hotel Expo, which will run until 7 February.
The expo includes the latest technological advances in the tourism sector and is considered a platform for expansion in all the activities it includes. Zaazou asserted that the continuation of the expo this year is proof of increased economic activity in Egypt, contrary to international perception that the country is at a standstill due to current political events.
Zaazou said he was optimistic about 2014 and the economic and touristic progress the country is currently witnessing. Dr Hoda Yassi, head of the Industrial Investors’ Syndicate in Suez as well as the Union for Arab Investments, said the tourism minister had confirmed during his inspection of some of the exhibitions in the expo that he would support all industries that are considered eco-friendly.
Zaazou also confirmed his support for the Arab and International conference, organised by the Industrial Investors’ Syndicate in Suez, under the leadership of Hoda Yassi in cooperation with the governorate of Suez under General Al-Arabi Al-Serwi. He also reiterated the support of the third army for tourism investment opportunities for in the area of Oyoun Mousa in the governorate.
