The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology offered a tender to develop traffic services using information technology, aiming to improve and develop traffic services.
The only method currently used in traffic units is direct interaction with employees, according to a ministry official.
The ministry’s development plan includes five steps: a centralised database to be the trusted source of information; refining these data using sub-data; increasing communication and participation through ease of access to services and determining the service depending on the user; statistical reports through data-analysis and using them in decision making; and administration and distinct operations through constant improvement of the work system and providing instant services and information.
The official added that the project includes a gate for electronic traffic services, mobile apps, development and establishment of a central traffic database, contact centre services and customer services. The project also aims for interaction and communication with citizens regarding traffic services and improving user services. It would also cover shifting interactions from direct communication channels to indirect self-service channels.
The tender specifications set the date for the proposals of the project to 1 March, so that tenders would be viewed in the same day. The advanced services will be given through indirect channels, which would offer traffic licence services, traffic condition services, guidance and information services, geographical services, economic services, and training services.
