The Egypt Expo and Convention Authority (EECA) will hold six expos between now and mid-December, Minister of Industry and Foreign Trade Tarek Qabil said.

He noted that four expos will be held in November, and two will be held in December. He added that the expos will be suspended from mid-December for a period ranging from one to two months, until all the requirements for civil protection are met.

Qabil pointed out that the ministry is keen on developing the exhibitions system as it has become an important industry and has a major role in the revitalisation of all the productive and economic sectors.

Qabil statement came during the opening of the International Trade Fair for Marble and Granite (Projex Africa), taking place at the EECA headquarters from 2 to 5 November with the participation of 90 Egyptian and international companies, as well as 150 of the top international buyers.

Qabil said the ministry aims to entrench the marble and granite industry, and has included in its plan to upgrade the added value of Egyptian products.

“The ministry is working on preventing the export of any raw materials and seeks their manufacture locally to increase the added value, which will positively reflect on the ability of these products to compete in foreign markets and increase their prices,” the minister added.
