The House of Representatives overwhelmingly approved its internal bylaw on Wednesday.
A majority of 403 members voted in favour of the internal by-law. The by-law was submitted directly to President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi for approval immediately after the vote.
Following Al-Sisi’s approval, the law will appear in the official state gazette, according to the state-run newspaper Al Ahram.
The internal by-law will organise the work of the parliament. During the drafting of the law, divisions arose among members of the parliament, especially over certain articles that MPs wished to modify.
An earlier draft of the by-law received preliminary approval from MPs at the beginning of March. Following this, Abdul Aal formed a committee of parliament members to adjust the by-law following a number of amendments, so that it could be sent to the State Council for revision and framing.
