During a television interview that marked two years since he took office, President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi announced that over the past two years the government has launched national mega projects worth EGP 1,400tn, and the state has provided between EGP 200bn to EGP 300bn of that amount.

The president noted that about 1,000 Egyptian companies operate in national projects that employ 2 million people.

Al-Sisi said that the Armed Forces Engineering Authority is a branch of the army that plays a regulatory and supervisory role. However, it cannot carry out all of these projects, and other Egyptian companies and contractors must help to carry them out.

The president said that Egypt needs 80 national project instead of 8 in order to develop further.

He pointed out that the completion of development projects in Sinai will not be completed before two years.

The president expressed that he believed Sinai was not given the proper amount of detention for development and that it is in need of more projects.

Al-Sisi said he is satisfied with the level of achievement of the state, but more achievement across the board is necessary.
