The Interior Ministry announced on Monday that its security forces succeeded in identifying a suspect accused of killing a police officer from Banha police station.
The police officer was killed during a security raid carried out to arrest a gang involved in trafficking narcotic substances.
The suspect was hiding in a farm, but the ministry succeeded in determining his whereabouts.
However, during their attempt to arrest the suspect, he opened fire on the security forces and both sides began to exchange fire until the suspect was shot dead.
Several police officers were killed in security raids to arrest criminal defendants or fugitives.
