CAIRO: Two players from holders Al Ahli, Emad Moteab and Shady Mohamed, have been suspended for the club s next African Champions League match after trying to attack the referee last Saturday, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) announced. The pair, also fined $1,000 each, attempted to assault Mali s Komlan Coulibaly after the final whistle of last Saturday s opening match in the group stage of this year s Champions League. Al Ahli lost 1-0 to CS Sfaxien of Tunisia, ending a run of 78 matches without defeat in domestic and continental football. CAF said they had made their decision after a report by the referee. The two players, both Egypt internationals, will miss Al Ahli s game against JS Kabylie of Algeria on July 29. Al Ahli officials said on Wednesday they intended to file an official complaint over the refereeing by the Malian official in last Saturday s game. Reuters
