Egyptians Nicola, Eishra, Adly win first places at 2016 World Helices Championship

For the first time, the World Helices Championship was celebrated outside Europe.

Egypt hosted the championship’s 25th edition this year, with more than 400 shooters from 15 countries competing, according to Abdel Hamid Ghaleb, director of the Egyptian Shooting Federation.

Egyptian George Nicola won the super veterans competition. Second and third places went to Italian Giovanni Rodenghi and British Ivor Dadswell, respectively.

The victories of Egyptian shooters continued in the juniors’ competition, as Egyptian shooters Yassin Eishra and Ahmed Adly came in second and third place, respectively. Argentinean Brahin Leonel was the champion of the juniors’ competition.

As for the veterans’ competition, the top two places went to Italians Giuseppe Di Giamberardino and Fanco Tassinari, respectively. Egyptian Abdel Aziz El-Soussy came in third.

Italian Antonio Angelini won the open competition, followed by British Malcolm Grant in second and Egyptian Fabio Donato in third place.

American Mimi Wilfong was the champion of the ladies competition. British Jane Bell was the runner-up, while her compatriot Dionne Rogers acquired third place.

Next year, the championship will take place in the US, and the following year in Argentina.
