CAIRO: Amr Zaki will be sidelined for at least three weeks after picking up a hamstring injury in Egypt s 1-1 World Cup qualifier draw with Zambia on Sunday.
The Wigan Athletic striker, who scored the Pharaohs only goal, sustained the injury during the second half of the game.
He had to stay on the field until the final whistle as Egypt s three substitutions were already made.
The news will come as a blow to Wigan coach Steve Bruce, who will have to do without the team s top scorer in the Premiership games against Everton and Arsenal.
Zaki, who is on loan from Zamalek, scored 10 league goals for the Latics so far this season.
Bruce is expected to rely on Zaki s compatriot Ahmed “Mido Hossam and Colombian striker Hugo Rodallega in the next two games.
