The Central Agency for Public Mobilisation and Statistics (CAPMAS) is currently conducting Egypt’s first national survey of persons with disabilities.

Field training activities on the survey were launched on 9 January 2022, and field work began on 29 January 2022 and will continue until the end of March 2022, where a random sample of representative households was selected across all governorates of the republic, taking into account the representation of urban and rural areas in each governorate.

Field data is collected from families in housing units by researchers who hold identification cards approved by CAPMAS.

The survey aims to create a database that provides national indicators on the phenomenon of disability, its size, extent, and causes; the needs of persons with disabilities to be able to get rid of the barriers they face; work to integrate people with disabilities into society in various aspects of life and economics; and work to provide data that enables classification in the various indicators of the 2030 sustainable development goals.

The agency asked the selected families to provide the correct data, given the importance of this survey in knowing the needs of persons with disabilities, and thus improving their quality of life.
