EGX, BUE sign agreement to spread financial culture

Mohamed Farid, Chairperson of the Egyptian Exchange, signed a memorandum of cooperation with Mohamed Lotfy, President of the British University in Egypt, to enhance the efforts of both sides in spreading financial culture.

The university would introduce students in various disciplines to the basics and principles of saving and investment in the money market, as well as providing practical applications to experience the trading process by default to gain new skills and experiences, raise the level of their knowledge, skills and experience to keep pace with the needs of the labour market.

They inaugurated the first integrated unit that includes the latest devices to introduce and qualify British University students on the best knowledge and practices of the trading process in the stock market and the skills of financial and technical analysis and other matters related to the process of investment and correct trading in the stock market, as the first unit of its kind in Egyptian universities, at the Faculty of Economics, Political Science and Business Administration at the British University in Egypt.

Mohamed Farid said that signing the memorandum of cooperation with the British University is a step consistent with the vision of the Egyptian Exchange management to develop the Egyptian stock market in a sustainable manner, which pays great attention to raising levels of awareness and financial culture in the community, especially university and school students.

Farid added that the cooperation includes, in addition to presenting a series of lectures that explain to students in a clear and simple way what the stock market is, the nature of its work, its location and its role in the Egyptian economy, as well as the basics and principles of saving and investing in stocks, training students to use the trading simulation model developed by the Egyptian Exchange administration, which will take place within the integrated business unit that includes the best devices necessary for learning and application.

Mohamed Lotfy, President of the British University in Egypt, said that the British University in Egypt always strives to ensure that its students receive a distinguished education and practical and scientific experience based on interaction and following developments in the local and global context, as we will see through the new unit that will help provide students with the practices, knowledge and applications of the Egyptian and international financial markets.
