The New Cairo Technological University (NCTU) launched Tuesday the first international forum for applied technology “Kemtech Forum 2022” under the auspices of Mohamed Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research. The form will last for a month.
The initiative is an inauguration of close cooperation and solidarity between the scientific research sector and the private sector. It comes within the framework of the state’s interest in basic sciences and building a strong scientific base. It is also an implementation of Egypt’s vision for sustainable development 2030, which aims to create an environment conducive to science, technology and innovation, and create a link between the government sector and the private and industrial sectors to enhance scientific and practical cooperation.
The initiative also seeks to develop technical education institutions and programmes in line with the skills and jobs of the future and the need of the labor market in Egypt in terms of technical skills and competencies that serve the industrial sector and all economic sectors in cooperation between technological universities, companies and institutions with experience.
Hisham El-Deeb, President of the NCTU, said that the initiative aims to create digital community awareness through various programmes offered by Kemtech Valley, providing a package of various services that support ambitious young entrepreneurs in establishing projects. These initiatives also benefit those working in the field of applied technology, by guiding them to ways to launch and manage their businesses in a sound technical manner, and follow up on the journey of launching their products and introducing them to the market. It provides knowledge and helps enrich the culture of self-employment and localizes industries and local technological innovations and markets them locally, regionally and globally.
The forum includes the establishment of a recruitment forum for students of technological universities, many grants for entrepreneurship, as well as training and professional qualification programs and opportunities to participate in technological projects, and join the incubation programme of the Valley’s Entrepreneurship Studio, in addition to the opportunity to obtain financing for startups through the Investment Forum to be held from 28 to 30 November, as part of the forum’s activities. It will be held in cooperation with the initiative’s partners from private sector companies such as Euro Capital Investment Group, Core Angel International, Euro Ventures Lab and Huawei Global Technology, Edam Healthcare, Mentors, Carrier 180, Ignite, and other success partners.
Kemtech Forum is the first annual event that provides a platform for Egyptian technological universities to showcase the efforts of the government of Egypt in capaciting highly specialized technical cadres to support the technological and industrial sectors in Egypt, the MENA region, and Africa. The forum is an opportunity to connect the industrial sector and investors on the one hand and innovators among the Egyptian youth on the other hand. The forum gives youth a chance to express their ideas and capabilities and know more about the latest trends in technology so they can stay ahead of the curve.
