Shereen Shahdi — Director of the British International Investment Corporation (BII), the UK arm for development financing — said that the corporation is very interested in green hydrogen projects and will participate in financing a number of renewable energy projects.
Shahdi added in statements to Daily News Egypt that she is already studying projects in this sector to finance them during the coming period, pointing out that she has financed about nine energy projects in Egypt currently.
She also pointed out that the company is very interested in green hydrogen and infrastructure projects, as well as water projects and their counterparts related to clean energy.
Furthermore, she revealed that the goundation’s investments in Egypt have reached about $750m now and are expected to increase during the next year.
Shahdi added that the investment portfolio already includes various sectors, especially the non-banking financial and industry sectors.
Additionally, she said that the Foundation has pumped cumulative investments of about $9.5bn, including 40% in Africa, of which Egypt specifically accounts for 13%.
