Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi received a high-level Russian delegation that included Denis Manturov, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Trade and Industry of the Russian Federation, and Mikhail Bogdanov, the Special Representative of the Russian President.

The meeting witnessed the affirmation of mutual keenness between the two sides to continue strengthening bilateral relations in various fields, and pride in the close bilateral relations and historical friendship between the Egyptian and Russian peoples.

During the meeting, Al-Sisi discussed with the Russian delegation the Egyptian-Russian economic relations that are supported by the general framework of the strategic partnership between the two countries.

This framework provides various bilateral mechanisms for cooperation, including the joint committee between the two countries for trade, economic, scientific and technical cooperation, which is currently holding its fourteenth session in Cairo. This contributes to strengthening economic, investment and trade relations between Egypt and Russia, according to Ahmed Fahmy, the official spokesperson for the Presidency of the Republic.

Fahmy added that the meeting also dealt with the developments of Russian investments and joint projects in Egypt in many fields, especially with regard to the establishment of the Dabaa nuclear power plant, as well as the establishment of the Russian industrial zone in the economic zone of the Suez Canal.

He said that the Russian economic zone is seeking to pave the way for the start of projects for joint manufacturing, localization of industry and export to the markets of many countries in different geographical areas, as well as discussing cooperation in the field of grain and food supply in light of the current global crisis in this regard.

The delegation includes also the Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry of the Russian Federation and the Vice President of the Russian Central Bank, and the Russian ambassador in Cairo.
