Yasser Shaker, CEO and Managing Director of Orange Egypt and Chairperson of Enactus Egypt, has announced that Kafr El-Sheikh University will represent Egypt in the Enactus World Cup 2023 that kicks off next October in the Netherlands.

Kafr El-Sheikh University won the first place in Enactus Egypt which was held last July with the participation of 33 Egyptian universities. The International Academy of Engineering and Media Sciences (IAEMS) won second place, and Helwan University ranked third.

Kafr El-Sheikh University won the first place thanks to its innovative project “Hermitia”, which addresses several problems in Egyptian society and provides solutions for sustainable development in terms of providing safe, effective and low-price fodder from very natural sources, which is the “black soldier” insect that feeds on food waste. Protein is extracted to produce feed, including for the manufacture of fish, poultry and livestock feed, as well as the exploitation of insect crustaceans in the manufacture of chitosan, which is used in several medical and vital industries.

The competition aims to help students with creative ideas transform their ideas into projects that help develop society or the environment and stimulate sustainable development in their local communities. A group of Orange officials participated in the competition jury, along with a group of entrepreneurs and CEOs of major international companies.

He explained that Egypt possesses creative competencies and talents, especially in the fields of societal technology, and this was evident in the tremendous results achieved by Egyptian universities in the Enactus International Competition, in which we won the title 6 times, and we wish Kafr El-Sheikh University all success in the international version of the competition.

Fatima Sirry, the founder and president of Enactus Egypt, expressed her happiness at the impressive conclusion of the competition, which has become a pioneering platform for exploring, supporting and qualifying Egyptian youth who aspire to develop their society.

She added: “The local Enactus competition provides an exceptional opportunity for young people at the university level to present their ideas and interact with those with expertise to try to turn them into reality. We believe that everyone who participated in this competition has won in one way or another, and we wish Kafrelsheikh University good luck in the international competition that we dream of by drawing the Egyptian flag on its cup for the sixth time.”
