President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi congratulated Wednesday his American counterpart Donald Trump who won the US presidential elections over rival candidate Hilary Clinton. Al-Sisi spoke to Trump over the phone, the presidency said.

Al-Sisi said he wishes Trump luck in his upcoming responsibilities towards the U.S citizens that trusted him to be their new leader. The Egyptian President also added that he is looking forward to enhancing bilateral relations between the two countries on all levels, a presidential statement read.

“Due to the strong strategic relations between Egypt and the U.S that have lasted for a very long time and believing in the rather important role of these relations in supporting stability in the Middle East region and Africa, Egypt is looking forward to a new boost in bilateral relations under the new Trump administration,” the statement added.

The statement concluded by congratulating the U.S citizens. Trump has won the elections on Wednesday after a heated elections battle with his rival Clinton.

In September, Al-Sisi and Trump met on the sidelines of his participation in the 71st debate of the UN general assembly.
