Helwan Company for Metallic Appliances, affiliated to the Ministry of Military Production, signed a cooperation protocol with Cairo Company for Investment, Urban, and Industrial Development, affiliated to the Ministry of Trade and Industry.

The protocol aims to transfer leather tanneries, workshops, and factories that are currently located in Old Cairo to Al-Robeky City, located 54 kilometres east of Cairo.

The signing was witnessed by Minister of Military Production Mohamed Al-Assar and Minister of Trade and Industry Tarek Kabil.

Al-Assar said that this protocol is an important step to exploit the technical and human capabilities of the ministry’s companies to support national projects. He added that the project at Al-Robeky aims at the development of the leather-tanning industry in Egypt in a healthy and clean environment.

He added that his ministry seeks to exploit the technological capabilities of Helwan Company for Metallic Appliances in manufacturing tanning equipment in accordance with the requirements of the project.

Kabil said the project at Al-Robeky aims to develop the leather-tanning industry in Egypt in accordance with global standards to increase domestic production and exports.

He added that the Cairo Company for Investment, Urban, and Industrial Development will establish a maintenance centre with complete facilities in Al-Robeky area, as well as a suitable place to install the tanning equipment that is to be manufactured by the military production.

The two ministers stressed the importance of cooperating in this project, being a good model for exploiting the surplus of available resources in Egypt to promote the national industry and increase export opportunities.
