Minister of Investment and International Cooperation Sahar Nasr held a meeting at the headquarters of the ministry with Sanjay Bhattacharyya, India’s ambassador to Egypt, in order to strengthen both countries’ ties and increase cooperation with Egypt’s development partners, according to a press statement on Wednesday.

Nasr expressed hope that the coming period would witness a strengthening and deepening of relations between the two countries and open new horizons for cooperation.

The two sides discussed increasing Indian investments in Egypt and expansion in the Egyptian market. Nasr explained the incentives included in the New Investment Law, as well as the ministry’s plan to complete the comprehensive investment map. The map will include investment opportunities in various parts of the country that Indian investors can invest in, including major national projects, such as the axis of the development of the Suez Canal and the New Administrative Capital.

The two sides discussed how Egypt can benefit from Indian expertise to build the capacity of government cadres in the field of investment in order to develop the necessary services and facilities for investors.

Moreover, the Indian ambassador reviewed the developments of the technological excellence centre project, which is expected to start with Al-Azhar University next August, using Indian technological equipment.

The two sides discussed scholarships and training courses provided by the Indian government through the Technical Cooperation Program (ITEC), where 160 Egyptian workers in the governmental system are scheduled to receive short-term training programmes in India in the areas of the governmental administration, public policy, and information technology.
