Banque Misr’s CSR contribution amounted to EGP 700m in last FY: Chairperson

Banque Misr’s contribution to social responsibility during the last fiscal year 2017/18 amounted to EGP 700m, up from EGP 30m, only five years ago, according to the chairperson of the bank, Mohamed El-Etreby.

He stressed that the bank aims to double this amount in the coming years, pointing out that the bank focuses on the area of ​​social responsibility, especially on education, health, youth support and community development.

This came during the opening on Wednesday of the One Stop Shop in Zewail City, which has the name of Banque Misr.

According to El-Etreby, the bank’s participation in supporting the city is the perfect investment to create an entire generation of intellectuals who understand the importance of science and technology, which is consistent with the bank’s development plan.

He stressed that the bank pays special attention to youth and women, in the fields of economic development, education, health and environmental protection, in addition to establishing projects that achieve social solidarity in Egypt.

He said that the support of Banque Misr for the city of Zewail for Science and Technology, is in line with the bank’s development plan, which aims at providing support to youth, scientific research centres, schools and universities, believing in the importance of developing the methods of the educational process and opening the door to the creative potential of the students.

According to Sherif Sedky, the CEO of Zeweil City for Science and Technology, the city administration hopes that the cooperation and fruitful support from different sectors and bodies will continue to complete all stages of the city, as soon as possible, in order to achieve a breakthrough in the field of scientific research Egypt and the Middle East.

He stressed that investment in human resources, upgrading the system of education and practical research are two main factors to provide innovative solutions to the problems facing the Egyptian society in all sectors, to lead the economic development.

This emphasises the importance of the concerted efforts of the private sector and civil society institutions to ensure the achievement of sustainable development in Egypt.
