Altibbi, the MENA’s largest digital health platform, announced Thursday the launch of its “One Million Free Medical Consultations” initiative which aims to provide free medical advice via voice calls, text messages, and mobile application.

The initiative will be conducted in partnership with Telecom Egypt, T20 Egypt, the Health Ministry, and the Communications and Information Technology Ministry.

It aims to alleviate the burden of medical consultation costs for Egyptians. While the campaign will take place across the country, it will focus on residents of Upper Egypt who face a critical lack of access to quality healthcare infrastructure.

Egyptians will now be able to download Altibbi application, visit the website, or call 16445 to access free medical consultations in less than four minutes, including a referral in case further follow-up is needed.

“Our vision is to spread health awareness to every home in Egypt. I wish to see more participation from the private sector in critical areas like healthcare provision,” said Founder and CEO of Altibbi, Jalil Allabadi.

“Through this initiative, we aspire to deliver free medical support to the largest number of citizens possible. And seeing as the initiative is the biggest of its kind, we have appointed the best team of dedicated healthcare professionals to cover the number of consultations needed, and serve Egyptians nationwide,” Allabadi added.

Magued Osman, chairperson of Telecom Egypt, emphasised the company’s role in facilitating comprehensive development in the country, citing the activation of such remote digital health care platforms as the beginning of a new era in Egypt, where technology will be the frontline in solving some of the most pressing issues facing the country.

Abdellatif Olama, chairperson and co-founder of T20, expressed his pride in launching this on the ground, grassroots initiative.

“We are proud of the initiative’s scale, which will revolutionise the delivery of health care and improve medical outcomes for Egyptians who previously lacked access to quality medical advice. We hope that this initiative will be the first step of many in Egypt’s journey to become a leader in healthcare in the Middle East and Africa.”
