Egypt stresses importance of Arab solidarity to combat regional challenges

Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi met on Tuesday with Saudi Arabia’s King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud and stressed the importance of Arab solidarity to combat the challenges facing the Arab region.

He also emphasised Egypt’s keenness to achieve security and stability in the Gulf, saying that the security of the Gulf is an integral part of Egypt’s security.

Al-Sisi’s remarks came during his visit to the Saudi capital, Riyadh, where an official reception ceremony was held.

The Egyptian president expressed his appreciation to the Saudi King for the warm reception, stressing the importance of Egyptian and Saudi regulations.

Presidential Spokesperson Bassam Rady stated that the meeting was followed by an expanded session of talks that included delegations of the two countries, where Abdulaziz stressed the characteristics of Egyptian-Saudi relations.

The king hailed Egypt’s pivotal role in the Arab region, and its unremitting efforts to support Arab and Gulf countries as an essential pillar for maintaining security and stability in the Arab world.

He also expressed his appreciation for Egypt’s support for Saudi Arabia on various issues, and for the contributions of Egyptian citizens in many sectors in Saudi Arabia and their role in achieving development in the country.

Furthermore, Abdulaziz stressed Saudi Arabia’s keenness to strengthen bilateral relations with Egypt at all levels in order to achieve the common interests of the two countries and peoples.

Additionally, Rady stated that the meeting dealt with ways to strengthen  bilateral relations, especially at the military and security levels, in addition to cooperation in the economic, investment and development fields.

The meeting also tackled developments pertaining to a number of regional and international issues of mutual concern.

Moreover, both sides agreed on the need to strengthen joint efforts to combat terrorism, asserting the importance of reaching political settlements to the crises in some of Arab countries in a manner that preserves the territorial integrity of those countries and safeguards the capabilities of their peoples.
