The Palestinian Foreign Ministry called on the UN Security Council on Sunday to assume its responsibilities in respecting its resolutions and ensuring their implementation, and to intervene immediately to stop the crimes and violations of the Israeli occupation against the Palestinian people.

In a press statement, the ministry condemned the policy of the extremist Israeli minister Itamar Ben Gvir against the Jerusalemites, their holy places, their neighborhoods, towns and homes in occupied Jerusalem.

“The policy is based on imposing more collective punishments and deepening ethnic cleansing, and depends on expanding the circle of crimes of demolishing Palestinian homes and facilities, imposing closures on Palestinian areas in the holy city, mass arrests, repression and attacks on Palestinian citizens”, the statement said.

The Ministry considered that the actions of Bin Gvir and his crimes are a clear expression of the failure of the State of Occupation to annex, judaize and impose Israeli control on Jerusalem, and a new confirmation that East Jerusalem is a Palestinian par excellence and an integral part of the Palestinian Territory occupied in 1967.

It considered that the racist colonial policy of Ben Gvir to commit more crimes and escalate in the arena of conflict in general and in Jerusalem in particular would not be able to break the will of the Jerusalemites to stand and defend their holy city as the capital of the State of Palestine, but revealed the depth of the crises of the Israeli government and its failure to control the occupation and colonization of the Palestinian people.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs held the Israeli government led by Benjamin Netanyahu fully and directly responsible for the consequences and repercussions of Ben Gvir policy in Jerusalem.
