President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi said Friday that police brutality have to be confronted by law, following the killing of a driver by a policeman on Thursday.

Al-Sisi said that the powers given to police officers should enable them to protect the lives, properties, and interests of civilians.

He added that despite the “patriotic situations” where the police apparatus have proved to be a valuable state institutions, incidents of police brutality should be countered by legislations to stop all such actions along with its doers.

Al-Sisi met Friday Abdel Ghaffar before the launching of the COMESA conference in Sharm Al-Sheikh.

The president decided to present these legislations to the parliament in 15 days, to punish whoever violates the rights of civilians.

Meanwhile a protest during the funeral of Mohamed Ismail, the driver who was killed in the district of Bab Al-Khalq in Cairo by a shooting reportedly followed an argument between him and the police officer.

The protesters chanted against the police apparatus, and stood for a while in front of the Cairo Security Directorate.
