Mohamed Tantawi, general manager for EMC Egypt, said that Egypt should focus on digital transformation using technologies related to the Internet of Things in order to cope with the rapid global digital development.
The comments came on the sidelines of a panel discussion on digital transformation during the Cairo ICT 2016 exhibition on Monday. Tantawi noted that attitudes towards the digital revolution should be changed to increase the growth rate of the communications and information technology sector.
Sherif Barakat, vice president and chief commercial officer at Samsung Electronics in Egypt, said that companies have to pursue digital transformation to increase their earnings.
Vice president and chief commercial officer at Telecom Egypt, Ahmed Osama, said that the company has transformed into an integrated communications services provider after obtaining the 4G licence. “This changed how people see us as a company,” he noted. He pointed out that the company wants to offer high-speed internet to its customers once it has finished installing fibre optic cables, which he said would allow his company to compete with other internet service providers in the local market.
