Founder of the website and mobile application Fixawy, Amr Ibrahim, said the service provides a list of technicians and specialists that make it easy for users to look up and contact craftsmen.
Ibrahim explained that Fixawy has a list of eight main industries, including electricity, plumbing, carpentry, tile setting, and brickwork ceramics. He noted that the service aims to expand and add further crafts to include the maintenance of electrical appliances and air condition units by next August.
The service is only in Alexandria for now, but aims to cover Greater Cairo by the end of this year, Ibrahim said. The service also hopes to spread to other governorates, such as Assiut and Beni Suef.
Fixawy receives five requests per week, he said, while clients conduct 2,000 searches per month. Ibrahim expects his client base to amount to 10,000 by the end of 2016.
Up until now, Fixawy services are available online, on Android, and on iOS—with Windows being the next target by the end of the year. Moreover, Fixawy is to offer other payment options, such as credit cards and e-payments in cooperation with the concerned companies.
In regards to choosing craftsmen, Ibrahim said the work team interviews all of them, acquires copies of their IDs, and checks for a criminal records certificate. Furthermore, Fixawy clients can rate craftsmen and provide feedback according to their experience, which encourages craftsmen to improve and advance.
