The Qasr Al-Nil Misdemeanours Court acquitted 15 Ultras Ahlawy members on Tuesday, the group reported on its official Facebook page.

“Members were acquitted after 54 days in detention,” the group posted, insisting that matches should be open to public attendance.

In an urgent trial, Ultras Ahlawy faced charges of chaotic assembly, using violence, and protesting after being accused of attempting to break into Al-Ahly Club headquarters to attend a handball match between their club and Al-Gezirah Club.

Four other minors in the same case have previously been acquitted by juvenile court.

The defendants were arrested on 23 September, amid ongoing tensions between Ultras fan groups, sports clubs, and the police, mainly at football matches, Egypt’s most popular sport.
