CAIRO: Two Italian tourists drowned on Friday while diving off the Red Sea resort town Marsa Alam, the state news agency MENA reported.

The tourists, a 61-year-old man and a 45-year-old woman, apparently died in separate incidents. Both bodies have been recovered, the agency reported.

Diving and swimming accidents are common off the coasts of Egyptian resorts. Last month four Russian tourists diving in the Red Sea were rescued a day after they went missing. -AFP
