Tamarod (Rebellion) campaign spokesman Hassan Shahin announced Monday that Tamarod will coordinate with Al-Tayar Al-Sha’aby in the upcoming parliamentary elections, in a statement issued by the campaign.

Shahin added that this coordination is a part of Tamarod’s attempts to form an electoral alliance “with all the revolutionary powers of 25 January and 30 June.”

Shahin said that Tamarod will soon meet with the Egyptian Social Democratic Party (ESDP) for the same purposes.

Al-Tayar Al-Sha’aby spokeswoman Heba Yassin confirmed the news, saying that many revolutionary powers share the goal of forming a broad electoral alliance “to fulfill freedom and social justice.”

However, Yassin did not disclose the procedures for the coordination with Tamarod.

The ESDP’s secretary of public action Mohamed Arafat said he had no information about an upcoming meeting with Tamarod, but added that his party welcomes meeting revolutionary and youth powers. However, Arafat affirmed that there are no known procedures of electoral coordination with a “campaign that has no known organisational structure”.

Shahin declared on 27 October that talks between Tamarod and the National Salvation Front (NSF) are being held regarding upcoming parliamentary elections.

He also announced that Tamarod’s goal is to form “the broadest nation-wide alliance that includes revolutionary factions under the umbrella of Tamarod.”

Tamarod, the signature gathering campaign, was the first to call for the ouster of former president Mohamed Morsi. The campaign announced on 8 October that it would run for parliamentary elections.

Al-Tayar Al-Sha’aby meanwhile is an alliance of Nasserist parties, originally founded by former presidential candidate Hamdeen Sabahy in June 2012. The alliance, as well as the ESDP, are members of the National Salvation Front.
