Egypt expresses concern over Iraq, Syria and Libya

Ambassador Amr Ramadan, Egypt’s permanent representative to the UN, expressed his concern over the situation in Iraq, Libya and Palestine, also condemning all forms of terrorism and human rights violations.

The UN’s new High Commissioner Zeid Ra’ad Al-Hussein, addressed the “dramatic escalation of the conflict in the Middle East and North Africa regions”. Al-Hussein added that the international community should give “urgent priority” to stop the escalating conflicts in Syria and Iraq.

Al-Hussein also addressed the recurring violence of the Israel-Palestine conflict and the destructive repetition of crises in Gaza.

Ramadan affirmed Egypt’s commitment to engage in a positive, objective and constructive dialogue with international human rights organisations. He added that the Egyptian authorities are working towards completing democratic state institutions and the protection of human rights within the frame work of the law outlined by the Egyptian constitution.
