The General Division of Computers and Software operating under the auspices of the Federation of the Egyptian Chambers of Commerce (Fedcoc) will be participating in the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) exhibition in Las Vegas from 6 to 9 January.

Head of the division Hassan Khalil said the delegation participating in the exhibition includes eight companies from the governorates of Cairo, Alexandria, and Daqahleya.

These companies work in several sectors such as electronics manufacturing, embedded software development, mobile phone applications, cloud computing, and technological services.

CES exhibition is considered a significant event in the IT and telecommunications sectors as it attracts 250,000 visitors and approximately 3,000 international companies who exhibit at the fair, Khalil said. Prominent participating companies include: Google, Intel, Microsoft, Qualcomm, Sony, and Samsung.

The division is currently studying a mechanism to provide internships with international companies for engineers who work in the division’s member companies.

These internships aim to introduce engineers to the latest technological developments in manufacturing electronics, developing embedded software, and value-added applications. Khalil hopes that these technological advancements will benefit Egypt across several sectors including education, health, and traffic.

The organisation of this mission is among the agenda of the cooperation agreement with the Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA), which contributes in transferring experiences acquired from this event to the rest of Egyptian IT sector.
