Televisions sales in the Egyptian market reached 100,000 devices in September, according to the German market research institute GfK, while Samsung topped the market with a share of 35% maintaining its top spot in the Egyptian market.

“The Samsung screen factory in Beni Suef has contributed significantly to launching products with world-class technology at competitive prices, which helped us to be the leading company in sales in the Egyptian market in the television sector,” said Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer for Samsung Electronics Egypt Sherif Barakat.

According to Barakat, the Samsung factory in Egypt was able to export 1.6 million devices worth $500m last year. That factory in Beni Suef exports its screen products to more than 36 countries around the world and is one of five major Samsung factories worldwide qualified and authorised by the parent company to manufacture screens. It exports between 80 and 85% of its output, while feeding the local market the remainder, and investments by Samsung so far have reached $270m.

Samsung Electronics has started to manufacture its latest QLED television locally at its Beni Suef factory with a capacity of up to 75 inches. Samsung has agreed with Raya, B.Tech, and Mobile Shop to offer installments over up to 24 months for Samsung mobile phones.
